Connecting SimDrive to

Wasabi

Flat-rate storage with no charge to read your files back.

About 10 minutesA flat price per TB per month with a 1 TB minimum, so it suits larger backups better than a few gigabytes. Deleted files are billed for 90 days after deletion. There is a free trial; a card is needed after it.
1

Create the account

  1. Go to wasabi.com and start the free trial. Enter an email address and verify it.
  2. Sign in to the Wasabi console.
2

Create a bucket

  1. In the console, open Buckets and click Create Bucket.
  2. Give it a unique name and choose a Region close to you — for example us-east-1 or eu-central-1. Write the region down: SimDrive needs it, and Wasabi does not redirect a request that names the wrong one.
  3. Leave versioning, logging and object lock off unless you want them, and click Create Bucket.
3

Create an access key

Wasabi keys are made for the root account or for a sub-user. A sub-user limited to the bucket is the safer choice; the root key works too.

  1. Open Access Keys in the left menu and click Create New Access Key.
  2. Choose Root User, or a sub-user you have created under Users with a policy for this bucket.
  3. Click Create. Copy the Access Key and the Secret Key, or download the CSV — the secret is shown once.
4

Enter it in SimDrive

  1. Settings → Storage → Connect storage → Wasabi (or the Wasabi tile on Get started).
  2. Region: the region the bucket was created in, such as us-east-1.
  3. Access key and Secret key: the pair you copied.
  4. Click Connect, then Choose folders to back up.

If it goes wrong

The bucket cannot be read, or a redirect error
The region does not match the bucket. Wasabi does not forward between regions; use Edit keys in SimDrive and set the region the bucket was created in.
Access denied
A sub-user key without a policy for this bucket. Attach a policy in Users, or use a root key.

These steps were last walked through in the Wasabi console on 2026-09-12. Consoles move their menus; if a name above has changed, the thing to look for is the same. Tell us at support@simsondesk.com and we will update the page.
